Booking Procedure
1. Enquiry
Begin by clicking the ‘Make an Enquiry’ button above or sending me an email. I’ll check availability and talk through what you need for your event.
2. Detail Collection Link
I use a professional booking system called GigBookingsPro , which was developed by me to manage all engagement details securely. If you’d like to proceed, I will send you a secure link where you can enter your contact details, the venue address, timings, and any other essential information. This ensures everything is accurate before your booking confirmation is prepared.
3. Booking Confirmation (via GigBookingsPro)
Once your details are submitted, GigBookingsPro generates your official Booking Confirmation containing:
- All event details (venue, timings, music requirements)
- The agreed performance fee
- My Terms & Conditions
- A secure ‘Confirm Booking’ button
4. Confirming the Booking
To secure the date, simply click the Confirm Booking button in the confirmation email, you will then be prompted to enter your name. This formally records your agreement and reserves the date in my diary.
5. Deposit (If Required)
Some bookings require a deposit. If so, this will be clearly shown in your confirmation. Once the deposit is paid, you’ll receive a receipt straight away.
6. Before Your Event
Once booked, I’m your direct point of contact. If anything changes — timings, location, access requirements, etc. — just email or message me and I’ll update the booking accordingly.
7. On the Day
I will arrive in good time, fully prepared, in the correct Highland dress for the occasion. In the unlikely event I’m unable to attend, I’ll always do my best to arrange a professional replacement piper.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you take a deposit?
A deposit secures your booking and guarantees that the date is reserved exclusively for you. Once a booking is confirmed, I often turn down other enquiries for the same date. Unfortunately, I have occasionally arrived at events only to discover they had been cancelled without anyone letting me know – so the deposit helps protect against lost time and income. The deposit is non-refundable if you cancel, but it is deducted from the final balance.
Do you take tune requests?
Yes – if I don’t already know the tune, I’ll gladly learn it if the music is available.
Do you play indoors as well as outdoors?
Yes, although bagpipes are naturally loud, so some indoor settings may require shorter playing sets.
What do you wear?
Full Highland dress which I can adapt to suit the occasion (e.g., Evening Dress, Day Dress, or a muted kilt for funerals).
What tartan do you wear?
My current kilt collection consists of the following tartans: Weathered Douglas, Dress Stewart, Royal Stewart, Steward of Appin, and Scottish National Tartan.
How far do you travel?
I cover events across the UK and occasionally abroad, subject to travel arrangements.
